Purpose
Evaluate is a set of web-based collaborative tools designed to facilitate formative and participative evaluation of projects and programmes. Project participants and evaluators are guided through a three stage procedure, first agreeing on the different aspects of a project which should be evaluated, secondly weighting the importance of each aspect and finally scoring their performance on each aspect. Users are encouraged to exchange opinions and ideas at each stage. In addition to the 'active' stages, there are reflective stages for reviewing the weighting and scoring 'votes' from participants. The tools provide comprehensive and very interactive graphical displays of outcomes, and detailed interactive reports. Detailed on line help is available for each stage.
Evaluate can be used in a group context with a data projector. It can also be used in a distributed environment with each participant interacting online. It requires facilitation by the evaluator. It can be used with large sample groups. The use of the tool over a period of time allows the plotting of changes in assessment of progress over time.

The beta release of Evaluate will be available on this web page in the near future.
Technical details
The programme requires the Adobe SVG Viewer, which is a browser plug-in for displaying interactive graphics. You may already have the plug-in installed (you will get a message, and be sent to Adobe's plug-in download site, if you load one of the tools without installing the plug-in)
